The True Story of a Bhutanese Student
Before I was from a Hindu family. I have studied class VIII in 1990. At that time I had one leg paralyzed. I took many ways for curing, but it was not possible to cure. Lastly I heard the word of God that Jesus is the Son of God and can heal this sickness. He arose from the dead, is the way of salvation and the Way of life. In 1994 I believed in Jesus and converted from Hindu to be Christian. I prayed for sickness three years, and my paralyzed leg was cured. I got more happiness and peace. I was baptised by the Holy Spirit in 1996. I prayed for my family: wife, father, mother, grandmother and other relatives. After three years my brother and all families were baptised. Many families have believed in God. We use to worship in my house called house fellowship. In our Bhutan there is not even one church. I had persecution and harassment for being Christian from the very beginning. We are in very remote area of Bhutan where more effective devils are followed.
First I got harassment from neighbours because of the name of Jesus. In 1998 I was imprisoned ten days due to the preaching and fellowship in my home. From the government there was much persecution for Christians. They were withdrawn from facilities and forced to give up religion. My people were backslidden and expelled from the country. In 2000 my harassment ocurred in Tsirang, but due to help in prayer from all nations, churches and ministries, we got the victory in Jesus. In 2001 again there was terrible harassment - like to give up religion, leave the country or withdraw facilities from the Bhutan government Home Ministry. I was summoned to district head office and given punishment. I was beaten the minimum of 18 times on the back per day, like it was gone for seven days. I handed over myself to Jesus till death.
After the seven days myself and one friend went to the capital Thimphu. We made medical certificate, and with photo we appealed to our king to allow to follow Jesus and to stay in Bhutan. We were commanded to go to the High Court. There we fought for justice for nine months and two months in the Supreme Court. I have all the documents from the starting of the case in court. There were four decisions from court. Lastly till the fifth time I appealed for unjust decision. The clear decision was given the king's secretariat by the order of the king. So now today we are free from persecution and harassment in Bhutan, but no freedom like other countries. We have only the home fellowships. And I use to preach the word of God.
Uncle, kindly pray for my country, place and home church. I want to keep in contact spiritually and physically in the future. Please don't forget me, my family and all believers from my place. I will be expecting the letter from you, uncle. Jaimasi to your church members. Thanks.
