Formerly prohibited in the Maldives, the powerful injeel of the Lord Jesus Christ is now received in hundreds of homes. The Holy Bible was banned by the former dictatorship. It was censored from every school, library and hospital in the atolls. For years mullahs and madrasas taught children that Christians were to be hated and ignored as infidels. An island chief said that if Jesus came there he would crucify him again! But years ago a scholar from Addu had a vision from heaven. Of the injeel he said that here is a power that we cannot resist. The reason is that the quran is a book without hope. It offers no assurance of salvation from sin. The god of the quran does not love men or offer them forgiveness. But the God of the Bible offers us a free ticket to heaven. He loved us so much that he paid for our ticket with the blood of his only Son Jesus. Whoever believes in him will not perish but have everlasting life.

Mohamed used his sword of steel to kill infidels or to forcibly convert men to islam. The Lord Jesus uses the sword of the Spirit which is the Word of God. His sword kills the sin in us and brings life to our soul. Dhivehi flesh, like all human flesh, must be conquered by this sword. As it is written: For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

The sword of islam may bring death to our body. But the sword of the Spirit of God brings us everlasting life.
